Editorial Policy

What this policy covers

Three kinds of content written by the TangrenLi editors: industry guides (how to find and check doctors, lawyers, tax preparers and contractors in the US), TangrenLi Insights (analysis based on our business directory data) and news (compiled from public reports). Community posts, job and housing listings are published by users and reflect their own views; they are not covered here.

Sources

• The official sources listed at the end of each guide link only to federal and state government websites and professional associations, such as the IRS, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and state license lookups. Every link is opened and checked before publication.
• Quotations from classic works are checked against the original text and cite the author, title and chapter; we do not quote paraphrases that circulate online.
• Figures in Insights come from the TangrenLi business directory, and each article explains how they were counted.
• News is compiled from public reports by government agencies and established media, with the source, date and a link to the original at the end.

How we write

• Each article answers one question readers actually ask, covering the basics, the process, where to look and how to check credentials.
• Numbers that change, such as prices, limits and deadlines, are either left out or dated, and readers are pointed to the official website to confirm them.
• We describe how things work in the United States. Where rules differ by state, we say so and show where to check your own state, rather than generalizing.

These articles provide general information only. They are not a diagnosis, legal advice, or tax, insurance or investment advice, and they do not replace a licensed doctor, lawyer or accountant. We do not assess individual situations or promise outcomes, and each article ends with a reminder to that effect. For your own situation, please consult a licensed professional; in an emergency, call 911.

No paid recommendations

Guides and Insights never name or recommend specific businesses, and we do not accept payment to write or change articles. Ad and featured placements on the site are display spots businesses pay for, and they are kept separate from articles. Links to the TangrenLi business directory are there so readers can search by city and category themselves.

Updates and corrections

• Every quarter we recheck the links, rules and dates in our articles; content that changes every year, such as tax filing and health insurance enrollment, is updated annually.
• When we find an error, we correct it the same day it is confirmed, and an updated guide shows the date it was last updated under its title.
• When an official website changes and a link stops working, we replace it with the new official page.
